It’s a real lemon!:  You say this when you buy a new car that has lots of problems!

I just blew it!:  I just made a big mistake.

I messed up:  I did something really poorly or badly.

Don’t throw in the towel!:  Don’t quit or give up.  [This comes from people who box (fight with their hands) as a sport. When a fighter could not keep going, his trainer would throw a towel into the ring to mean that the fighter gave up.]

I’m in over my head:  It means something is too hard for you to do. It comes from being in water that is over your head and you cannot swim.
